Cougar Valley Weekly Family Update

Every Learner-Every Voice-Every Day!

October 5, 2026

Happy Monday and Happy October, Cougar Valley Cats and Families! 🐾🍂

Can you believe we are already into October? I cannot believe how quickly the days go by once school gets started!

We have lots of really great things to celebrate and look forward to this week and throughout the month. We continue to work on establishing routines and expectations in all areas of our school—including on the bus. Thank you for partnering with us as we help our Cats learn what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe in every setting.

Our monthly Character Trait for October is RESPECT! ❤️

Ask your Cat what respect means to them and how they see respect being demonstrated throughout our school. We are excited to focus on what respect looks, sounds, and feels like in our Cougar Valley community.

October is going to be a busy and fun-filled month! Be sure to mark your calendars for:
📚 Family-Teacher Conferences: October 22 & 23
📖 Book Fair: October 26–30
🎃 Annual Cougar Valley Pumpkin Run: Coming up soon!

We would LOVE to have as many volunteers as possible for our Pumpkin Run. It is always such a fun Cougar Valley tradition, and we cannot wait to experience it with our Cats and families!

As always, it is an absolute honor to serve as your principal. I am so grateful for the partnership we have with our families and community, and I look forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, connection, and success.

Every Learner. Every Voice. Every Day. 💙💛❤️
Have a fantastic week, Cougar Valley!

Impact Aid Forms

ALL FAMILIES, regardless of civilian or military affiliation, must complete an Impact Aid Survey.
If this form is not completed online, the office will be required to send home a paper form of the same survey. Ideally, families will complete online.

Impact Aid is federal funding that the Central Kitsap School District applies for every year. These funds make up for the local tax dollars we lose because of tax-exempt federal property. The results of our Impact Aid survey support this request and are critical to our district's resources for students.

Please complete the form as soon as possible by logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, where the online forms for your students are available starting 10/1.
How do I complete the online form?
  1. Log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
  2. Select your student's name in the blue bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Click “Forms” in the left menu.
  4. Click on the “[Central Kitsap] A - Impact Aid Program Survey” link.
  5. Fill in all required fields.
  6. Click the submit button.
  7. Repeat steps 2-7 for all students.

If you have questions about Impact Aid: To learn more, visit https://www.ckschools.org/impactaid or email ImpactAid@ckschools.org. Thank you for your cooperation!

CV PTA News

🐾 Cougar Valley PTA is Looking for YOU! 🐾
There are so many ways to support Cougar Valley, and one wonderful way is by joining our PTA!
Our Cougar Valley PTA is an incredible organization and an invaluable partner to our school. Because of their active partnership, generosity, and support, we are able to provide so many additional opportunities, experiences, and resources for our students and staff.
You do not have to volunteer to be a member! Simply joining is a meaningful way to show your support for our school and our Cats. And if volunteering is something that works for you and your family, there are many different ways to get involved.

Whether you have a lot of time or just a little, you belong here! 💙💛❤️

Thank you to our amazing PTA for all you do for Cougar Valley. We are so grateful for your partnership and everything you do to make our school such a special place to learn and grow!
