Cougar Valley Weekly Family Update

Every Learner-Every Voice-Every Day!

September 4, 2026

Happy Friday Cougar Valley Cats and Families!

Dear Families,
What a first week! 🎉

Thank you so much for your flexibility, patience, and support as we began the school year with an entirely new schedule. Moving from our Family Connection Meetings, to a slow start with early release, and then into full school days was certainly different from years past. I can say for myself that I truly appreciated those half days and the opportunity to build stamina alongside our students and staff.
We will be asking for your feedback about the new schedule and our opening to the school year. Your voice matters, and we appreciate your partnership as we continue to learn and grow together.

And I have to say… our kids ROCKED the first week! ❤️

I absolutely love the beginning of a new school year. There is something special about the excitement, fresh starts, new friendships, and endless possibilities that come with September. I am so excited about the learning that is going to take place this year, and I am beyond optimistic about what this school year has in store for us.

This Is OUR School
One of our goals this year is to make sure every student and every family knows:

You belong here.

This is OUR school, and together we create a space where everyone feels welcome, valued, supported, and connected. It takes all of us — students, staff, and families — working together to make our school community the very best it can be.

A Huge Thank You!
We have so many people to celebrate as we begin this school year.

huge thank you to our custodians, Mr. Homer and Mr. Mel, who worked tirelessly throughout the summer to get our school in tip-top shape. Their hard work made a tremendous difference, and we are so grateful!

We also want to thank our district for the incredible updates to our gym. A brand-new floor and fresh paint have transformed the space, and it looks absolutely gorgeous! We are so excited to have such a beautiful space for our students and community.

And last, but certainly not least, a tremendous thank you to our incredible PTA!

Our PTA is such an important partner in making our school the special place it is. Their support, time, energy, and generosity have a huge impact on our students and staff.

If you haven't already, please consider joining this worthwhile organization. There is a place for every family in our PTA, and we want you to feel welcome to participate in whatever capacity works for you. You don't have to attend every meeting or volunteer every week — every contribution makes a difference.

Thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for your partnership. And thank you for the incredible honor of being your principal.
I am so grateful to be on this journey with all of you.

Here's to an amazing year of learning, belonging, growing, and SOARING together!

Let's watch our Cats SOAR! 🐾

With gratitude,
