Happy Friday Cougar Valley Cats and Families,

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in and donated to our annual Apex Fundraiser! Your support means the world to us, and we truly could not do this work without your partnership.

We will share all of the final results in next week’s update, but I have a feeling this may be our best year yet!

Because we met our goals, your amazing Cats have earned the chance to “Slime the Principal” — yes, that’s me! We will celebrate together next Friday during a schoolwide assembly.

I am so proud to be your principal and honored to be part of this incredible learning community. Thank you for all you do to support our students and school.

Camp Colman Chaperones: May 27-29

We are still in need of chaperones for our upcoming trip to Camp Colman. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend special time with your Cat while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors together! 🌲🐾

If you are willing and able to join us, we would love your support. Please contact us if you are interested in chaperoning. Thank you for helping make this a memorable experience for our students! 😊

SBA Testing Coming in May

Dear 3rd–5th Grade Families,
Our Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) will begin in May for students in grades 3–5. These assessments are an opportunity for students to show what they have learned this year and demonstrate their growth.
To help your Cat feel confident and ready to do their best, please remember to:
  • Ensure they get plenty of rest the night before testing
  • Provide a healthy breakfast each morning
  • Encourage them to come to school ready to try their best
We also ask that families try to avoid scheduling appointments & vacations during testing days whenever possible so students can complete their assessments with their class.
Testing Schedule
5th Grade
  • Math: May 4–5
  • Science: May 6
  • ELA: May 11–13
4th Grade
  • Math: May 13–14
  • ELA: May 18–20
3rd Grade
  • Math: May 13–14
  • ELA: May 18–20
