Cougar Valley Weekly Family Update

Stronger Together: Every Student, Every Day, Every Possibility

October 13, 2025

Happy Monday Cougar Valley Cats and Families,

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! As you enjoy this beautiful fall weather, let’s take a moment to reflect on the significance of today and honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.

We’ve had another productive week here in the Valley and are cruising right along! Our students continue to work hard at being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe Cats, and we are so proud of their efforts. Cat Coins are adding up quickly — our next school-wide goal is 1,000 Cat Coins, and we’re just 200 away from earning a school-wide bingo game!

Next week, we’ll have vision and hearing screenings for our students, along with a special visit from a local children’s author — it’s sure to be an exciting week of learning and inspiration!

Looking ahead, Parent/Teacher Conferences are the following week. We look forward to connecting with you and sharing all the incredible things happening here with your Cats!
Keep up the great work, Cougar Valley!

October 31st Fall Harvest Fun/Pumpkin Run!

Friday, October 31st will be a fun filled fabulous day. We are planning our Annual Pumpkin Run and Fall Harvest/Halloween Celebration. Students may choose to wear costumes on this day. Refer to your child’s classroom teacher for specific plans for the day and make sure your child’s costume is…..
  • One they can get in and out of on their own
  • School appropriate
  • No Masks
  • No Face Paint
  • No Weapons of any kind
  • No Blood or Gore

‘My Culture Is not A Costume’. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Please note, the Pumpkin Run will be taking place rain or shine. Have your child bring appropriate shoes and/or extra clothing to participate.

Please sign up if you wish to volunteer for the Pumpkin Run. Be sure your volunteer application is complete.

Drop Off/ Pick Up Procedures

🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders
First and foremost please take note and follow the NO PARKING SIGNS that have been installed. Also, please do not drop your child off before 8:55am. Our supervision does not begin until that time.
To keep our children safe and our routines running smoothly, please adhere to the following:
  1. Form two lines of cars in both the morning and afternoon.
  2. Do not drop students off on the side of the road. If you do not wish to use the car line, please park in a designated space and walk your student in.
  3. Car tags are required for pick-up. If you do not have your car tag, you will be asked to go into the office with your ID.
  4. Always pull forward as far as possible so we can keep traffic moving.
  5. Stay in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up. Staff will assist students as needed.
  6. Model respect and patience for staff, students, and each other at all times. Our children are watching how we interact.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Cougar Valley a safe, respectful, and welcoming community.

Complete your 2025 Impact Aid Form

Every year, Central Kitsap School District applies for federal Impact Aid funding. These funds compensate CKSD for the loss of local tax dollars from tax exempt federal property.

The results of our Impact Aid survey help support our request for these federal funds. This survey is critical to our district’s resources for students. We must receive information from each student.
