Fifth grade students are eligible for the school safety patrol program. Training and parent permission is required. Students must conduct themselves in a responsible manner to serve.
Cougar Valley has a student council led by a slate of officers who are elected every year. Students in the 5th grade are eligible to run for ASB. Elections for ASB officers and room representatives will take place in the fall. Meeting dates and times will be announced.
Fifth grade students can sign up for band instruction. This takes place five days a week for thirty minutes each day. Students are responsible for their own instruments unless the district has available instruments.

Our chorus program is held before school on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:20. Third, fourth and fifth graders are eligible to participate.
Our unicycling program is lead by Ms. Milano. Unicycling meets on Monday & Friday's for advanced students at 8:20 a.m. and on Tuesday's for beginning students at 8:20 a.m.
The Cougar Valley Newspaper Club, taught by Mrs. Mix, is a place where 4th and 5th graders can share the happenings of their school through an electronic newsletter that students and staff can enjoy. Participants can use their creativity, writing, and drawing skills to put together this masterpiece. The club will meet before and/or after school on Mondays from 8:30-9:00 and 3:30-4:00. This club begins on January 9th and will meet through the beginning of May.
The computer club will learn about programing robots, 3D printing, and creating videos using the Makerspace in our library. Mrs. Mix and Mrs. Roger will teach this class and will meet in the library on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 after school. It will begin on January 10th and will conclude on March 28th.
Art & Pottery
"Every Child is an Artist" Pablo Picasso - Come explore your creativity while learning to use a variety of art mediums and techniques. We will learn watercolor techniques, create oil pastel stained glass, and pottery projects. Just use your imagination! The art lessons will be taught by Mrs. McCormick, Ms. Soliz, and Ms. Devine. Pottery lessons will be taught by Mrs. Tedford and Mrs. Roger. This club will meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00 pm. It will begin on January 4th and will conclude on March 29th.
Spanish Club is available to students in fourth and fifth grade. The club will meet on Monday's from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday's from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Participation is based on a first come first served basis since there is only room for 15 students.
